Celebrating National Pet Wellness Month: The Top 3 CBD Benefits for Dogs

October is National Pet Wellness Month, but CHOU2 PHARMA / CHOU2 PET WELLNESS champions pet wellness all year long. The CHOU2 PHARMA / CHOU2 PET WELLNESS team is dedicated to providing the best, cleanest plant-based health supplements for your pets, and to the science, research, and education necessary to bring those god looking upproducts to life. We know the benefits of CBD oil and CBD products, and we want to share all that we know with dog owners. You may trust that CBD is good for your pet, but we’d like for you to know WHY. We want you to feel empowered and in control of your pet’s overall wellness. Knowledge is power when it comes to pet wellness.

Whether you’re one of the pet parents seeking anti-inflammatory solutions, or someone looking to boost your pup’s immune system or nervous system, or maybe your dog struggles with osteoarthritis or joint pain … an important first step is understanding the options available to you. At CHOU2 PHARMA / CHOU2 PET WELLNESS, we believe that natural products and ingredients have a home in every pet’s routine. That’s why we’ve worked hard to provide you and your veterinarian with pure, precise, and natural tools to aid in your pet’s quality of life.

We hope we’ve gotten you excited about the use of CBD, CBD soft chews / CBD dog treats, and CBD oil for dogs, as they’ve all been shown to provide a number of health benefits. Let’s dive into the specifics…

1. The Unique, Powerful Science of CBD

The hemp plant consists of special enzymes, terpenes, and molecules, which are also known as cannabinoids. Two common molecules found in hemp or cannabis are tetrahydrocannabinol (also known as THC, which provides the psychoactive effect most often associated with cannabis) and cannabidiol, or CBD, which is the most dominant molecule found in hemp. These two molecules are actually the key differentiators between marijuana and hemp. Marijuana has quantities of THC that provide a psychoactive effect. Hemp has little to no THC, meaning there is no psychoactive effect. At CHOU2 PHARMA / CHOU2 PET WELLNESS, we exclusively use hemp-derived CBD and non-psychoactive cannabinoids – and our products contain no THC.

In the simplest terms, these cannabinoid molecules interact with receptors in your dog’s endocannabinoid system (we as humans have these systems as well!). Along with the other active ingredients found in our chews and oils, these molecules get to work on any imbalances in your pup’s system. Hip and joint aches, nervousness, loose stool – these are all indicators that something in your dog’s system needs extra support, and those pure, natural ingredients work hard to fill in the gaps.

At this point, we’ve become very familiar with CBD, at least conversationally – it’s kind of hard to avoid it these days! While CBD is actually technically one of 120+ cannabinoids, people have been using the term CBD to refer to a broad spectrum of non-psychoactive molecules that come from the hemp plant. Remember, hemp has little to no THC (and CHOU2 PHARMA / CHOU2 PET WELLNESS products have no THC!) But there’s so much more to the science than two molecules. Broad spectrum CBD actually contains a number of molecules other than CBD itself, including CBG, CBN, CBC, CBDV, and more (even a little THC in some cases). While broad-spectrum products are primarily CBD, and the other molecules aren’t found in meaningful amounts, it’s important to know that broad-spectrum is not pure CBD. That’s where CHOU2 PHARMA / CHOU2 PET WELLNESS is different – we do use pure CBD. We also use pure CBG, CBN, CBC, and CBDV when called for. Why is this important? There’s a few reasons!

1. Each of these molecules has a unique function on a dog’s system, so we want them in meaningful, pure, and consistent amounts to ensure maximum support.

2. We don’t want any variety in our formulations month after month. Broad spectrum formulas change over time, because they are derived from a broad range of organic matter. With CHOU2 PHARMA / CHOU2 PET WELLNESS, we don’t have to worry about that since we use pure molecules.

3. We don’t want any THC in there! More on that later.

So what’s the takeaway here? Broad and pure hemp-derived CBD products are safe and effective. Pure molecules, which is the CHOU2 PHARMA / CHOU2 PET WELLNESS way, provide added purity, consistency, and access to unique benefits based on the power of each molecule. Most importantly, you have natural and effective tools at your disposal to champion your pet’s health, alongside your veterinarian.

What do these tools look like? CHOU2 PHARMA / CHOU2 PET WELLNESS offers chews and tinctures. The chews are designed for daily, chronic use – for needs like hip and joint support, digestive comfort, and senior care. We take extra measures to ensure our chews survive your dog’s acidic stomach and actually enter their system. Tinctures are used for fast-acting needs like nervousness or anxiety. 2. Without THC, There are Virtually No Side Effects of CBD

When we talk about the side effects of CBD, most commonly we are referring to the effects of THC. The “high” or psychoactive effect is strictly associated with THC. The main side effect seen with overdose of CBD and other non-psychoactive cannabinoids is grogginess. This is why it’s crucial to buy from a reputable company, with available third party testing – so you can ensure the CBD used actually contains less than 0.3% THC. Broad-spectrum and full-spectrum CBD do contain trace amounts of THC, whereas pure CBD does not.

Taking THC out of the equation was not a question for the CHOU2 PHARMA / CHOU2 PET WELLNESS team. We wanted pet owners to focus on finding the right product or the right dose of CBD, and not having to worry about anything else. Taking the guesswork out gives you more time to focus on your best friend.

3. All-Natural Solutions for Holistic Pet Wellness

High-quality CBD products can improve pet health, quality of life, and overall well-being when used regularly. Consistency is key, as is working closely with your veterinarian. We aren’t here to say that our natural products are a miracle solution for your pet – because pet wellness isn’t just about supplements. Pet wellness is about physical, emotional, mental, social, and environmental harmony. Diet and exercise alone don’t make a healthy person, and it’s the same for dogs. Supplements are a key part of the ecosystem and lifestyle you create for you and your pup. We’re happy to be part of that wellness journey with you!

We’re thrilled and grateful to the data and expertise provided by veterinary medicine community (our team of scientists and veterinarians included), and their acknowledgement of the benefits of CBD and the positive impact it can have on any dog’s health.
